Scott Campbell

Biography

Scott S. Campbell, MS, MHt, MDiv, is the Founder and President of the American Association of Veterinary Chaplains (AAVChap). As a veterinary chaplain at Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, Scott brings a wealth of experience in providing emotional, spiritual, and compassionate support to animal caregivers, clients, and their animal companions. With a Master of Divinity from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities and backgrounds in hypnotherapy and interreligious chaplaincy, he established AAVChap to bridge gaps in veterinary care and beyond to embrace the spectrum of animal care services through education, advocacy, and community-building. Scott hosts quarterly public community events honoring animal companions and regularly co-facilitates Balint Groups for veterinary professionals. Married to Dr. Bonnie Campbell, a small animal surgeon and WSU faculty member, Scott shares a deep personal commitment to the human-animal bond, informed by their life together with many beloved companions of fur and fins. His vision for AAVChap emphasizes wholeness is wellness, fostering inclusive chaplaincy that strengthens connections across species.
