Celebration of Life & Remembrance for Our Animal Companions

The WSU College of Veterinary Medicine's Celebration of Life & Remembrance for Our Animal Companions is a quarterly event dedicated to honoring the lives and memories of our cherished animal companions. This inclusive gathering offers a supportive space for individuals to reflect on the deep connections shared with their animal friends and to find comfort in loss with a community that values the profound bond between humans and animals. The event includes a remembrance garland ceremony, where participants can honor their companions in a tangible and meaningful way, while celebrating the love and joy their lives brought. The event welcomes all, creating a space that is both reflective and supportive for believers and non-believers alike.

Balint Groups offer a group reflective process that helps care providers to better understand their relationships with those they care for. For veterinarians, this usually means a pet owner or client, for chaplains, this includes the people they counsel. In the veterinary chaplaincy context, that could mean veterinarians, support staff, or pet owners and families. This session will introduce nuts and bolts of how a Balint Group works, and discuss some of the expected benefits for participants, including increased empathy, resilience, and sense of community.

Presented by Dr.Shana O'Marra, DVM, DACVECC

Hosted by VChap Scott Campbell, MS, MHt, MDiv
